Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum offers seasonal train rides from May through October, as well many fun family events throughout the year! Some events sell out early, please call or contact us for details. Tickets go on sale May 1.
April 30 - Pittsfield 250th Anniversary Celebration
We kick off Pittsfield’s 250th Anniversary with complimentary 90-minute round-trip train rides departing from Pittsfield with a layover at Lenox station. Tickets for this special train available directly from the Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce.
May 28-29-30 - Museum Opening Weekend
It's our 27th year serving the beautiful Berkshire Mountains region of Western Massachusetts! Join us as we kick off our 2011 excursion season at the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum and help us continue our growth!
June 18 - Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts Charter
All aboard for this photographer’s special train that will cover multiple scenic locations for photo opportunities between Lenox and Great Barrington, with a stopover at Stockbridge station. Tickets for this special train are available directly from MBRRE.
June 25 - Wine Tasting Train
Enjoy a sampling of fine local wines and light appetizers while taking in the beauty of the Berkshires from our vintage train. Upon arrival at Stockbridge Station, enjoy live music while sampling desserts and coffee. You must be 21 and over to ride this special train.
July 2-3-4 - July Fourth Weekend
Celebrate July Fourth weekend with a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway! Regular schedule and ticket prices in effect.
July 16, 30 - Murder Mystery Train
A family reunion goes terribly wrong when someone is murdered on the train... And it’s your job to figure out who did it! Stage Blood Murder Mysteries of the Berkshires performs this funny and entertaining show that follows you from Lenox to Stockbridge and back. A box dinner is included with your ticket to mystery!
August 20 - Museum Open House
Our all-volunteer museum has a lot to celebrate, from the preservation of railroad history to the restoration of equipment and artifacts! Take this opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at our museum, as well as tour some of our newly restored trains. As part of our Open House we welcome one of our favorite bands, The Electric Trains, who will perform a live concert at Stockbridge station.
September 3-4-5 - Labor Day Weekend
Celebrate Labor Day weekend with a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway! Regular schedule and ticket prices in effect.
September 17 - Follow The Paper Trail by Train
By the mid-1800's there were hundreds of paper mills in Massachusetts. All of them were located near canals or rivers, in order to get power and water need for the manufacturing process. Enjoy a historic journey down the Berkshire Line as we learn and explore the paper manufacturing industry of the past, present and future. Enjoy informative presentations on board the train and at Lenox and Stockbridge stations. Box dinners will be available for pre-purchase.
October 9 - Antique Fire Apparatus Show
Enjoy vintage trains, vintage fire equipment and fall foliage all in one day! The annual fire apparatus show at Stockbridge Station is hosted by the Berkshire Chapter of SPAAMFAA. Take the train departing from Lenox Station and stroll the grounds of Stockbridge Station among classic fire equipment.
October 12 - Columbus Day Weekend
Celebrate Columbus Day weekend with a ride on the Berkshire Scenic Railway! Regular schedule and ticket prices in effect.
October 22-23, 29-30 - Peanuts™ Great Pumpkin Patch Express
It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! Take the train to the Great Pumpkin Patch in Stockbridge where kids can pick their own pumpkins, enjoy apple cider and cookies, play games, and enjoy live music. And don’t forget to have your picture taken with the guest of honor, Snoopy himself! Visit our special Great Pumpkin Express page for full schedule and ticket pricing. Tickets go on sale June 1.
November 25, 26 and 27; December 3-4, 10, 11 - The Polar Express™
Our popular Polar Express trains will depart from Lenox Station again this year for a magical journey to the North Pole! Charter our vintage train for the trip of a lifetime! Whether for business or pleasure, we can work with you to plan an unforgettable event! Planning a private party? Looking for a unique corporate fundraiser? Want to give someone a special birthday? Consider chartering the whole train or a single coach. Throw in our café car for additional flexibility or the use of the historic Stockbridge Station may also be arranged. The possibilities are endless.
Group Sales
Take your group on a scenic train ride through the Berkshire Hills! Depending on the number of guests, our crew can arrange for your group to have your own private coach on one of our regularly scheduled trains. Discounted fares will apply depending on the size of your party.
Birthday Parties
Celebrate your next birthday on the train! Our birthday party package features tables and chairs on the station platform, railroad themed decorations and a supervised cab ride for the birthday celebrant in our vintage diesel locomotive. The package includes 10 tickets for a regularly scheduled Berkshire Scenic train. Additional tickets are available at a discounted price of $12 each for adults and $5 for children under 12. Bring your own cake and ice cream or inquire with the museum for additional options and ideas!
Educational Opportunities
Anyone working with a school, Scout troop, youth group or summer camp who would like to offer young people a chance to learn about the history of railroading or how a railroad works are invited to inquire. Our volunteers would be willing to develop presentations tailored to your audience.
Corporate Sponsorships and Fundraisers
A once-a-season commitment to producing an event at the Berkshire Scenic could bring your organization to the attention of the community at large and offer tremendous fundraising potential. The museum can offer assistance with publicity and is a wonderful venue for many kinds of displays or performances. Businesses, non-profits, civic groups and private parties are all encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity! Additional opportunities to use the historic Stockbridge Station may also be arranged.
